FRIDAY 11 August 2017

Dear Parents

A number of parents and staff have expressed concern to me about the traffic situation around the school and about how parents are parking and stopping to fetch the children. Some of it is dangerous and some of it is inconvenient for others. Our security guards are very good with the boys on the crossings, but they cannot manage the traffic and parking around the school. I do want to ask every parent to exercise extreme caution and be considerate in this regard. I think if we follow these rules for “Bishops traffic” our boys will be safer and life will be easier for everyone:

·         Use Fir Road as a one way towards Belmont Road and park on the left

·         Use Duke Road as a one way going down to the station and park on the left-hand side only (This is a dramatic change but it should be a major improvement. If you want to get back into Belmont Road in the Campground Road direction, the route past the station and under the bridge is much quicker than having to cross Belmont.)

·         In Duke Road park on the road and not on the pavement (If not, our boys and other pedestrians will need to walk in the road which has become a real problem.)

·         Park well away from the two pedestrian crossings so as not to obscure vision

·         In the Grade 3/boarding house area, use it only as a drop-and-go area and no parking in the road leading in

·         Also a good parking alternative is the parking area at the top of Duke Road near the subway (There are always parking places there and very few of our parents use it at present.)

If we can all follow these guidelines I think we will have a much safer traffic and parking situation around the school.

Best wishes for a good weekend. May it keep on raining!

Kind regards
