Cricket

Bishops Prep Cricket is voluntary and is organised into Senior and Junior sections. The seniors consist of seven teams who play matches: 1st XI, 2nd XI, U12A. These teams play the longer version of the game on a Saturday morning. This is based on time rather than limited overs. The selection format has slightly changed from previous years, the best U13's and U12's will make up the 1st XI. The 2nd XI will consist of only U13 players and the U12A will be only U 12 boys. The rest of the Senior teams U13C, U13D, U12B and U12C play limited over matches during the week, the U12's on a Tuesday and the U13's on a Thursday. There is also a Senior league group who play internal matches interspersed with regular coaching and net sessions. They are also involved in three to four school matches per term.

Our juniors are organised on a similar basis, eleven teams who play matches. The U11A,U11B, U11C, play matches on a Wednesday afternoon and the U10A, U10B, U10C who play matches on Mondays. Plus five  U9 squads selected on ability who play mini-cricket matches on a Tuesday afternoon. The rest of our juniors form the Junior league and play mini-cricket but with pads and a proper cricket ball.  They are involved in school matches during the fourth term.

Great importance is placed on developing the required skills through sound coaching techniques, enthusiastic participation and real enjoyment.
