Bishops: Diocesan College - Prep Post
FRIDAY 8 September 2017
Dear Parents

Last night we hosted the 15th Bishops U12 Day/Night Hockey Festival at Woodlands – boys’ and girls’ teams from 12 different schools. We were fortunate that rain stayed away in the first few hours but it certainly poured down in the last two hours. To everyone’s credit: pupils, teachers and parents, the tournament continued unabated right through to the finals. We were fortunate to see some wonderful hockey and enjoy the enthusiasm and warm support of the crowd, the majority of whom stayed right until the end. Players, umpires and coaches were all soaking wet but their enthusiasm remained undampened.

The hockey season ends tonight with our U13A team participating in the Top Schools’ Tournament at Hartleyvale and we wish them all the best for this evening.

The rugby season will come to a close tomorrow with Inter-House Rugby. Braai fires will be lit and we hope many of you will be able to stay afterwards as the coaches and teams celebrate the season and their time together.

And next week we have our first external soccer matches on Thursday against Busy Bees Club. Please note that we really want all our boys to involve themselves in the soccer. Even if they are not in a specific team, there will still be soccer for them.

Best wishes

Design & Tech Evening
There was much fun and excitement at the Grade 7 Design and Tech robotics evening last week!
Spring Run
Last Friday’s SPRING RUN took place around the Rondebosch Common. It was the most beautiful afternoon and the boys, and Mr Siko, “Sprung into Spring” with speed, enthusiasm and big smiles. Finding a little snake, no bigger than a fat earthworm, just before the race, added much to the excitement. Parents, teachers and stooges came out to support the boys and a couple took a Spring walk themselves. Thank you to Mrs Leppan for her organisation and Mrs Beaumont for cool drinks and the delicious donuts. Thanks also to Sportsmans Warehouse, DEMS Stationery shop and Westerford Spar for sponsoring prizes and treats for all participants. See more photos on our Facebook page here.
Civvies Day Donations
A letter of thanks was received from the Prince Albert Animal Welfare. Thanks again for all your wonderful donations.

Sandwich Outreach

Well done to the Grade 4 boys for their enthusiasm in making sandwich for Athwood on Tuesday. We look forward to a great effort from the Grade 5's next week!.
