Bishops: Diocesan College - Prep Post

FRIDAY 25 August 2017

Dear Parents

I do want to apologise for the emails our boys received from College boys this week. College boys have done surveys as part of their Life Orientation/Biology course and erroneously sent them out to the full email list of all boys. This was definitely done in error and for a number of reasons, mistakes were made. College has taken this very seriously and all Heads of Subjects have been briefed on the protocol to be followed to ensure that this is avoided in future. It certainly has not happened in the last decade so it is a very isolated occurrence. We have told our boys to delete all such emails.

The number of nut allergies among children has increased dramatically over the last few years and is an international phenomenon. We are working closely with one of our parents, Dr Claudia Gray, who is an expert in the field of paediatric allergies, on how to best manage it at our school. There are a number of different approaches used internationally in schools and she is very kindly researching best practice. In the meantime, we have decided not to use peanut butter at all for our Tuesday sandwiches. Please continue to support this drive as generously as you have been, but no more peanut butter.

Please check arrangements for next week carefully as this is our week to transition to soccer for the rest of the term. However, some boys will still be involved in rugby and hockey tournaments for the next few days. We have explained arrangements carefully to the boys but I think you will have to be on top of the changes as well.

Best wishes
